Carpet Installation in Franklin, TN

Carpet still belongs in a lot of Franklin bedrooms, bonus rooms, and stairs, even when the main floor is hardwood or LVP. A carpet quote is pad, seams, and transitions — not only a fiber name.

Stretch-in carpet over a pad is the usual house install on a wood subfloor. Glue-down shows up on concrete stairs, some basements, and small commercial rooms. They feel different and they repair differently. A bedroom over the garage in a Fieldstone or Westhaven plan is a common stretch-in. A basement slab that needs something soft is a different assembly, and moisture has to be mentioned.

Pad thickness changes both comfort and how fast the face yarn crushes. A cheap pad under a decent carpet wastes the carpet. The quote should name the pad, not fold it into a single mystery number. Seams belong where furniture will sit, not in the middle of a doorway if that can be avoided. Stairs need a wrap or a cap plan so the nosing is tight.

If the main floor is hard surface, the carpet should meet it on a clean reducer or a tack strip that does not leave a ridge. Tell the form which rooms stay carpet and which rooms are already wood. Replacing carpet that covered a squeaky subfloor will not fix the squeak. Price subfloor repair if the floor booms when you walk.

This page is for wall-to-wall carpet. It is not an area-rug shop, and it is not a claim that carpet is the right whole-house floor. Many people refinish the oak downstairs and only recarpet the stairs and bedrooms. That split scope is welcome on the form.

Carpet details worth writing down

  • Rooms and stairs, with approximate sizes.

  • Whether you want a soft bedroom carpet or a tighter fiber in a playroom.
  • Concrete or wood underneath.
  • Old carpet still in place, or already pulled up.

What installation day assumes

  1. 1

    Measure

Rooms are measured including closets if closets are carpeted. Stairs are counted by the tread, not guessed from the hallway.

  2. 2

    Pad and tack

Tack strip and pad go in before the carpet is stretched. Furniture needs to be out.

  3. 3

    Seams and trim

Seams are placed, then transitions at wood or tile are finished.

  4. 4

    Ventilation

New carpet has a smell for a short time. The quote can note that without calling it a problem.

When to skip carpet

Skip it in a wet basement, a muddy entry, or a kitchen. Those rooms belong in tile or LVP. Use carpet where you want quiet and warmth and you can keep water off it.

Questions about carpet installation

Can you carpet only the stairs?

Yes. Say whether the landing and the upstairs hall are included. Stairs alone are a normal, smaller quote.

Do you move furniture?

Light bedrooms can be part of a scope. A piano, a loaded bookcase, or a sleeper sofa needs to be called out. Do not assume it is included.

Is there a carpet brand you require?

No. Describe the feel you want or name a product. The quote should attach a specific carpet and pad, not a color family alone.
